Training for CA Divestment Petition Signature Collection Wed 9/29 at 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM 78 Barrows Hall, UC Berkeley

We will be conducting training for petition circulators to collect signatures on the CA citizen’s initiative 10-0020, divesting state pension funds from companies enabling Israeli apartheid. We will review who can circulate and how to properly fill the petition forms to avoid invalidating them. We will show certain techniques of engaging a variety of strangers, taking your cues from body language, eye contact, age, gender, etc. Thoughts about making presentations on the initiative to various size groups We will address the way you look at someone, the way they look at you and understanding that you are requesting to both impose on a person’s time and space yet seeking to share something worthwhile. How to deal with people trying to deliberately waste your time or responding with rude or disgusting comments, and even use this to your advantage.

We will have volunteer packets ready, so please help us determine how many by

RSVPing to ca.divest.sfba@gmail.com<http://us.mc1137.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=ca.divest.sfba@gmail.com> . We will bring a few extra for last-minute walk-ins.
