Come join the UCSC Committee for Justice in Palestine for a FREE Hip Hop event featuring performances by British human rights activists and acclaimed performers Lowkey, Shadia Mansour, and Logic, and a presentation by human rights activist/blogger Jody McIntyre! They will be speaking out about the Palestinian struggle for human rights and self-determination and other social justice issues.

There will also be tables with information from Jewish Voice for Peace, The Olive Tree Initiative, and other human rights organizations.

Admission is FREE to all students!

$5 suggested donation will go to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

Jody McIntyre:
A british writer an human rights activist, Jody McIntre recorded his experiences in his blog Life on Wheels. He has spent time living in the Occupied Territories and participating in weekly non-violent protests against the Separation Wall in the Wesk Bank village of Bil’in. He also speaks about racism in british society and growing challenges to student’s rights to an affordable education.


Logic: an emerging artist from South London. His music tackles a wide range of topics from the situation in Gaza to life in Brixton. He has collaborated with hip hop group, the People’s Army, as well as Lowkey, and Shadaa Mansour.

Shadia Mansour:
A British singer and MC, often referred to as “the first lady of Arabic hip-hop”. She is known internationally as a voice for Palestinian experience under the Occupation. She raps in both English and Arabic and wears traditional Palestinian dress when she performs. She has collaborated with members of Public Enemy and Dead Prez.

an Iraqi-British MC, poet, and playwright who has long been an outspoken advocate for human rights around the world. In 2009 “Long Live Palestine Pt 2”, reached number 1 on the UK Hip Hop charts. He has been featured on songs by Immortal Technique and M1 of Dead Prez.
