More attacks hit Jewish targets at Indiana Univ.

(JTA) — Three new attacks on Jewish targets at Indiana University, following two earlier incidents, included the desecration of holy texts.

A rock was thrown Tuesday morning through the window of an apartment above the Chabad Jewish student center, located just off the university campus, nearly hitting a student and putting a hole in the opposite wall. Four non-Jewish students live in the Chabad apartment.

Less than an hour later, a rock was thrown at the staff directory glass display case for the Robert A. and Sandra B. Borns Jewish Studies Program, causing damage.

On Monday evening, eight religious volumes in Hebrew removed from shelves at a university library were urinated on in eight different bathrooms in the library area, according to reports.

A Star of David hanging on gallows, and the words “happy Holocaust,” “Death to the Jews,” “Death to Israel,” swastikas and a range of cruses against the Jewish people and the State of Israel were sprayed on a Jewish public school in Kiev on the eve of Independence Day.

It seems as though the perpetrators carried out their crime in a bid to mark the birthday of Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler.

According to assessments made by local security forces, neo-Nazi group activists are responsible for the vandalism carried out on the night between Monday and Tuesday. The said school is a Jewish state school in Kiev that is run by the Chabad Youth Organization.

(JTA) — The Chabad house in Mumbai has received a letter threatening another attack.

The handwritten letter was received recently at the site where an attack more than a year ago killed six Jews, including Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holtzberg, who ran the center, according to Ynet.

It read, in part, “Israel is dogs. We will strike again — heil, Hitler,” and was accompanied by a photo of Adolf Hitler, the news site reported.

Chabad’s Nariman House was one of 10 Mumbai sites under siege during a three-day attack that began on Nov. 26, 2008 by an Islamist Pakistani group that left 166 dead and hundreds injured.

The letter was turned over to Israeli authorities in India, Ynet reported. Indian security officials also were notified.
